Conservatory Program Director
Antonio Rosario, a Lead Artist in Ballet 5:8's professional company, is a classical trained dancer in the Russian Vaganova System. He graduated from the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet in 2013, and got an offer with the Gelsey Kirkland Ballet Company. There, Antonio danced Soloist Roles to Principal Roles in Classics such as Raymonda, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Sleeping Beauty, La Ventana from Auguste Bournonville, Harlequinade, Don Quixote, among others. In 2014, Antonio received his Teacher’s Certificate from the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. In addition to teaching at Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts, Antonio also teaches workshops in classical repertoire and daily ballet classes in Granada, Spain.
In addition to being experienced with classical ballet, Antonio is also an avid Flamenco dancer. He won 2nd Place in the New York State Certamen Flamenco Competition in New York City held at the Lincoln Center. Antonio also had the opportunity to study Flamenco abroad in Granada, Spain. In Granada, he studied with two of the most respected dancers in Spain: Rafaela Reyes "La Repompa,” and Raquel Heredia “La Repompilla.” This experience has enriched Antonio’s dancing, and he looks forward to sharing all he has learned while in Spain.
