Guest instructor Ms. Pilar Garcia will be teaching Acting & Mime classes for Ballet 5:8’s Summer Intensive 2017.
Pilar Garcia’s acting credits include the Broadway cast of Mummenschanz, various productions with New York’s CSC Repertory Company, The Richard Morse Mime Theatre, and Paper Bag Players. She has performed in noted regional theaters as well as the Chicago Lyric Opera, The Cleveland Playhouse, and the Young Vic in London. Ms. Garcia has served as Narrator/ Director/Choreographer for Quilters, Tubby the Tuba, The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Czardas Princess, Peter and the Wolf, and Platero y Yo.
As a mime and movement coach, Ms. Garcia has worked with dancers such as prima ballerina Gelsey Kirkland on numerous roles, in addition to coaching actors such as Philip Anglim, Jack Weatherall, and David Bowie in Broadway’s The Elephant Man. It has been her privilege to also teach at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, HB Studio, Principia College, Salt Creek Ballet, and Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet.
