Why are summer dance classes so important?
Common thought around boys and dance says that boys won’t gain anything from dance lessons, that they will be subjected to "girly" princess games and pink tutus, or that lessons will simply be a waste of time. However, this couldn’t be any further from the truth! Ballet and other forms of dance are not just for girls; they can help girls and boys alike develop physically and mentally.

Modern dance technique was founded in the 20th century by pioneers including Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis, and Ted Shawn. Each of these artists and choreographers wanted to explore a freedom and emotional expression of dance that differed from the very popular style of the time, ballet. The exploration took place within the different technical approaches, costumes, venues, and music.
