Stephanie Joe

Marketing & Development Associate | Instructor

A native Houstonian, Ballet 5:8 Lead Artist Stephanie Joe trained pre-professionally at the Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy and had the opportunity to perform with Houston Ballet and Houston Ballet II. She spent summers training on merit scholarship with Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School (NYC), and attended the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Program in 2015. During the summer of 2013, Stephanie attended Boston Ballet’s Choreographic Intensive where she worked with Helen Pickett, Thaddeus Davis, and Tanya Wideman-Davis. She has performed works by choreographers such as Gerald Arpino, George Balanchine, Ben Stevenson, and Stanton Welch. 

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University where she pursued interdisciplinary studies in business, dance, and design, graduating cum laude with distinction in dance. During her time at Duke, she choreographed several main stage works. In 2013, Stephanie co-founded Duke Ballet Company, the university’s first student-run ballet company, and served as artistic director, ballet mistress, and resident choreographer through 2016. During her college years, Stephanie also gained valuable insight and practical experience in arts administration and marketing through internships with Houston Ballet, Chicago-based Eighth Blackbird and Manual Cinema, and Pierpont Communications (Houston, TX). Stephanie joined Ballet 5:8 in 2016 and has served as Marketing & Development Associate since 2017.
