It’s time to celebrate our Fifth Anniversary performances Beyond the Nutcracker this December! Ballet 5:8’s twist on the holiday classic leads to story of the very first Christmas and takes us on a journey around the world as we see impact of the birth of Jesus in every culture. We’ve asked a few of the Studio Company and Guest Artist dancers featured in the performance to share about their role and what they enjoy most about dancing in this joy-filled ballet.

Q. What is your name, age and where are you from?

A. Hello, my name is Gracie Rohder! I am 14 years old and I am from Plainfield, Illinois.

Q. What is your role in Beyond the Nutcracker?

A. I will be dancing the role of Emma. Emma is a little girl who goes on an adventure with her Uncle Abrams and the angel Anastasis. She travels to several countries in the world where they teach her the true meaning of Christmas.

Q. What do you enjoy most about this role?

A. I love playing Emma because she is shy like me so I relate to her very well. It’s also been my dream to dance this role since I was a little girl.
