Putting on False Eyelashes | Pro Tip from Melody Staples Hammell

Our current School of Ballet 5:8 Featured Guest, Melody Staples Hammell, is a former principal dancer with Charleston Ballet Theater. We asked her to share some pro tips that she learned during her extensive career.

Melody says:

Oh my goodness, false eyelashes!!! I love false eyelashes, but so hard to get them to go on and stay on without poking an eyeball!

When I was at Charleston Ballet Theater, we were performing 50+ performances a year and that is a lot of false eyelashes! It wasn’t long before I stumbled upon the perfect solution. I needed to roll the eyelashes prior to putting them on my eye. When they were extra curved, they would cling to my eyelid. Such a relief!

Also, putting the glue on my finger and dipping the eyelash in the glue made the eyelashes less 'gloppy'. Then, wait a little bit for the glue to get tacky before putting them on made them stick even better.
