Making Progress

Ballet 5:8 Trainee Gabby Timm shares about becoming her character in Pilgrim’s Progress.

Ballet 5:8 Company Artist Elizabeth Marlin

Who are you dancing as in Pilgrim’s Progress this year?
I am dancing the character named Goodwill.

What has been the most interesting or challenging part about portraying your character?
I think the most interesting thing about my character is that Goodwill helps show Christian the way to walk the narrow path which is a very serious decision to make. Yet, Goodwill gets to see people make that choice to walk the narrow path toward Christ which is such an exciting moment.

Which scene is your favorite and why?
My favorite scene so far has to be the Hill of Redemption. I think that dance really encapsulates such a beautiful moment for a Christian. That first moment when you lay down your burdens for God to take is such a special and freeing moment. I love being able to dance in the freedom that comes after that moment in front of the cross.

Describe the movement style of your character.
My character's movement quality is very fast and upbeat which goes along with the fun and peppy music.

Why should audiences come to see Pilgrim’s Progress?
Audiences should come to see Pilgrim’s Progress because it does a great job of telling the story of how people come to Christ. It also shows the reality that life is not always easy but walking with God gives us freedom.
