VALPARAISO, IN – “We are thrilled to be serving the Valparaiso area community through high-quality dance classes from a Christian perspective” says Rachel Miller, the Director of Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts Valparaiso Campus. Though Ballet 5:8 has been teaching in Valparaiso since 2016, this fall marks a new chapter for the dance school since outgrowing its former home in a church basement. The Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Ballet 5:8’s new studio at 1155 Marsh Street on Wednesday, October 14 at 4:30pm. The ceremony is free and open to the public; due to social distancing requirements, RSVP is required at ow.ly/2HFD50BIj2A. Learn more about the Valparaiso Campus at school.ballet58.org/valparaiso

The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will include performances by students from the campus and dancers from the Ballet 5:8 Trainee Program. Light refreshments will also be available.

"The greatest gift Ballet 5:8 has given my girls is a Christ-based studio with professional dancers who foster a great love and passion for dance to all the sweet kiddos that come their way," says Arlene Cochran, whose daughters attend classes at Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts’ Valparaiso Campus. With the new, larger studio space and Miller, the campus’ first dedicated director, Ballet 5:8 is now able to provide area families with a wider range of classes and class days/times. Classes available include Toddler & Me, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Boys Dance, and Adult Ballet. Dancers can enroll for the full school year or in flexible 9-week mini-sessions.

Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts is a member of More Than Just Great Dancing and follows the Safer Studio™ guidelines for dancing safely during the pandemic, including cleaning precautions, social distancing, and mask wearing when social distancing is not possible. Students will temporarily pivot to Ballet 5:8’s online platform if needed due to pandemic conditions throughout the school year.
