Creating The Dreamer | McKenna Palmer
School of Ballet 5:8 student McKenna Palmer shares about becoming her character in The Dreamer, which premieres May 28 at Lincoln-Way West High School.
Q: Who is your character in The Dreamer?
A: My character is Issachar, one of Joseph's siblings.
Q: What has been the most interesting or challenging part about portraying your character?
A: The most challenging part about portraying my character is the acting. With each moment in this story, I ask myself what my character would do or think in that situation. Plus, I need to remember the counts, choreography, and interactions I have onstage with others. It has been a fun challenge!
Q: Which scene is your favorite and why?
A: My favorite scene would be the beginning, in the first moments when we meet Joseph's family. We are introduced one at a time to the parents, how they met, and all of the siblings. It it a very fun piece to be in as well.
Q: Why do you think audiences should see The Dreamer?
A: I think audiences should come see The Dreamer because it brings to life the story of Joseph in a way that is exciting and has never been seen before. Everyone in this cast and crew have worked hard to share this story in a beautiful and inspiring way, and we are all excited for people to come see it!
The Dreamer is choreographed by Julianna Rubio Slager and co-choreographed by instructors at the School of Ballet 5:8. See it May 28-29, 2022 at Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox, IL.
