Dance Where Students Thrive
If You Have a Passion for Dance, We Have a Place for You
Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts is a nonprofit dance education center affiliated with Ballet 5:8, a professional ballet company. It it our joy to serve the greater Chicago area through accessible, high-quality dance training in an uplifting environment shaped by our Christian faith. Our mission is to foster and develop excellent young dancers as a platform from which we can share about Christ.
A Holiday Story Inspired by the Classic Ballet
This December, the students of Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts pre-professional ballet training programs invite you to come on a magical holiday journey set to Tchaikovsky's renowned Nutcracker score. Emma and Peter seem to think that Uncle Abrahms' telling of the story of the first Christmas is just a fairytale. What do you think?
Children's Dance Division
Ballet and tap classes for ages 3+ facilitate the development of important dance skills like rhythm, coordination, musicality, spatial concepts, basic ballet steps and positions, and dance class etiquette in a positive environment guided by our Christian faith.
Ballet 5:8’s Five-Week Summer Intensive is structured to allow dancers to make technical gains, expand artistry, and engage with different styles of dance and choreography. Thanks to regular worship, Bible study, and fellowship in small groups, Summer Intensive at Ballet 5:8 is also a special opportunity for students to gain new friends, dig into God’s word, and be challenged to worship the Lord in everything that we do.
Youth Dance Division
The Youth Dance Division combines our dedication to high-quality instruction in a positive, God-glorifying environment with the fun of dance classes in a variety of styles and the accessibility of flexible enrollment options. You can pick classes in the dance styles you prefer and enroll in single or multiple classes each semester. Classes provide high-quality dance instruction, positive role modeling from instructors, and a close-knit environment where lifelong friends are made
Did You Know that Boys Dance Too?
Ballet and dance classes aren't just for girls! Today’s popular stereotypes often limit our perception of ballet to something that consists only of pink tutus and pointe shoes. While ballet does require girls to be graceful and feminine, ballet also requires dedicated male dancers who exemplify strength, power and leadership in their dancing, bringing contrast to the ladies and a completeness to the picture we present onstage in performances.
Scholarships for Boys
We are excited to offer Boys Scholarships as an incentive to encourage boys to participate in dance! Our Boys’ Scholarship Program automatically grants a 50% tuition scholarship to boys during the 2-3 semesters contained in the 12 month period following first-time enrollment.
The most intensive of our training programs, the Pre-Professional Program is designed to provide students with the needed classical basis to enter careers in professional dance performance, be accepted to college level dance programs, and pursue a variety of career and ministry opportunities in dance-related fields.
