Step into the enchanting world of Toymaker, where the vibrant town of Marisol sets the stage for a captivating ballet created by Julianna Rubio Slager. Curiosity drives young Nadia to uncover the secrets of the legendary Toymaker, leading her on a mesmerizing quest. From the magical Woodlands to the Toymaker's workshop filled with exquisite, life-sized dolls, witness the moment they come alive and the turmoil that ensues. Set to the enchanting score by Leo Delibes, this ballet is an ode to the beloved classic, Coppélia.
As the dolls strive to become real like Nadia, they face the devious Mayor Kratz and a selfless act of love that changes everything. 12yr+ Audition Class & Scholarship Awards | 1:30-3p, students who are studying en pointe should bring pointe shoes. Dancers will audition for the Pre-Professional and Conservatory programs, and will be considered for merit scholarships for the 24/25 season. New students interested in the program are required to audition. Current students will be considered for placement and for scholarships during their spring exams.

We'll be evaluating dancers based on their current technique level, classroom skills, sense of rhythm, and coachability.

Join the cast of Beyond the Nutcracker for tea on November 25th at 12:00 pm. You will have a chance to meet the cast and enjoy refreshments and festivities before the performance. An additional ticket is required for this event.
Beyond the Nutcracker Tea
You are invited to tea with characters from Beyond the Nutcracker! Join us for a beautiful dance performance, then enjoy tea and refreshments while you meet the characters. Decorate a pointe shoe to take home for some Christmas cheer.
The Beyond the Nutcracker Tea is a sensory friendly event featuring low level music, flexible seating arrangements, and a quiet room for audience members who may need to take a break.

This original full-length ballet inspired by the story of the Prodigal Son features a cast of over 300 dancers from Ballet 5:8’s nationally-recognized classical ballet training programs, custom-designed costumes, dramatic classical music, and original choreography by Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager. This powerful drama portrays the tender love and compassion of God as a father and is a treat for the entire family!

Free Frozen Dance Class
On January 3 at the Orland Park Studio, the School of Ballet 5:8 will have three free Frozen-themed dance classes! Whether it’s the “First Time in Forever” your child has been in a ballet class, or they’re back because “Some Things Never Change,” we hope to see you there for PreBallet, Elementary Ballet, or Ballet 1A.
